SID • The Future is Bright for YP on the Internet
Today is Safer Internet Day 2015. Organisation’s, Charities and Schools across the UK are focusing on Safer Internet Day. The focus is ‘Making the Internet a Better Place to be’. Such a positive strapline demands positive action.
Barnardo’s as a Children’s Charity are playing their part by providing a bespoke, ‘safe haven’ for their services. KOKO VOICE is a community allowing services to reach out to their members empowering participation, tackling isolation and encouraging the authentic voice of the child. Barnardo’s lead the field in the Children’s Charity Sector in providing such a community. This community helps children and young people to take responsibility for their safety, be creative and connected.
At KOKO we are working together with the students at Dartmouth Academy to produce a piece of research, ‘By Children, For Children, Teachers and Parents’ to gain insights into how the internet is transforming the lives of our children, their hopes and dreams, their concerns and their positive and negative perspectives. The research will be published in a few months.
As organisation’s, charities and schools work together, making promises to make a difference … the futures bright.
